Overview

Hikayat Nus El-Leil (Midnight Story) is an Egyptian family drama that plunges deep into a household burdened by quiet suffering and repressed conflict. Shaker, the authoritarian head of the family, forces his daughter into a marriage of his choosing, disregarding her true feelings, while his wife Samiha endures her days confined by illness and paralysis. Seeking help at home, Shaker hires a new secretary, Ibtisam, whose arrival dramatically upsets the fragile household dynamic. Shaker grows inexplicably attached to Ibtisam — refusing to take his medicine from anyone else's hand and trusting no one around him but her. As his paranoia deepens and secrets begin to surface, the film steers toward a gripping dramatic climax that reshapes every relationship in the family. A compelling Egyptian drama about control, trust, and the hidden fractures within a seemingly ordinary family.
