
An Egyptian actress, she was born in Cairo on July 5, 1912 to an Egyptian father of Greek origins and a French mother who separated from each other when she was a young child. Samira began her artistic career through short roles assigned to her by actress, producer and director Uzaira Amir. She began taking starring roles, starting with her standing opposite musician Mohamed Abdel Wahab in his first film, “The White Rose,” which was produced in 1932. She performed in many cinematic roles opposite Mohamed Abdel Wahab, who formed a successful duo in the 1940s. Then she disappeared from artistic work in 1946 after participating in the film The Return of the Caravan, remaining for thirty-five years away from the spotlight and devoting herself to her family and her private life. She died in 1981.
