Al-Mara Shaitan (The Woman is a Devil) is an Egyptian drama film built on the destructive power of obsession and jealousy. A young woman, consumed by her love for her cousin's husband, murders the wife to clear a path for herself — only for the plan to collapse immediately when the widower marries a nurse he genuinely loves. Her hopes shattered, the woman's feelings curdle from desire into vengeance, and she goes to the police to falsely accuse the husband of killing his own wife. The film is a darkly compelling portrait of how jealousy, when left to fester, transforms love into something monstrous — and how the innocent can fall victim to the calculations of those they never wronged.
