El Keif is an Egyptian social drama that examines drug addiction and the moral temptations of a scientific breakthrough. Gamal makes his living singing at weddings but struggles with substance abuse, and his brother Salah, a chemist, devises a harmless substitute drug to prove to Gamal that dependency is more psychological than physical. The scheme works — until drug barons take notice of Salah's formula and begin to pressure him to produce it commercially. What started as a brotherly act of love becomes a dangerous confrontation with greed and criminal power, testing Salah's integrity in ways he never anticipated.
