Overview

The Mix-up is an Egyptian comedy following Ihsan, a mild-mannered government employee at the Ministry of Culture who is quietly admired by his colleague Nargis. His unremarkable life is upended when security forces arrest him on a string of charges he cannot make head or tail of. To evade capture, Ihsan dons a series of disguises — first as a foreign tourist, then as a woman — before eventually fleeing with his neighbor Zizi, a dancer, and going undercover as a young boy in her performance troupe. A farcical comedy of errors built on mistaken identity, escalating absurdity, and the chaos of being in the wrong place at entirely the wrong time.
