El Haramy (The Thief) is an Egyptian romantic drama film that follows Abbas, a mechanic deeply in love with the poor girl Fatima, whose father rejects him in favor of marrying her off to a wealthy older man. Determined to stay close to her, Abbas seizes an unexpected opportunity when the rich man's daughter notices him and asks him to serve as her personal bodyguard. As he maneuvers within the household to be near Fatima, a stolen engagement ring casts suspicion on him, and he must fight to clear his name while navigating the complicated web of love, class, and loyalty pulling him in all directions.
