Tower of Tanneries is an Egyptian social drama following the wealthy merchant Salama as he moves from the old tannery quarter to a prestigious new apartment in the upscale Mohandessin district. His son Hisham returns from the 1973 October War haunted by physical injury and post-traumatic stress, while his wife Nadia struggles to reach him. Meanwhile, Salama's other son Issam runs a boutique with help from his girlfriend Nana, who smuggles goods — and medicine for the ailing patriarch — from abroad. When Salama announces plans to marry Nana, Issam quietly moves to eliminate her before she can stake a claim on the family's inheritance. A richly layered drama about war's aftermath, generational conflict, and the corrosive pull of greed.
