Satohi Foq Al-Shagra (Satohi Above the Tree) is an Egyptian comedy film set in the colourful world of a family-run circus. Satohi works for his uncle Lamei and aunt Sonia, who owns the circus — but Sonia flatly refuses to allow her daughter Zoba to marry Satohi despite the young couple's obvious love for each other. Adding to Satohi's troubles is an unusual deal with Ahmed, a wealthy man who moonlights as the circus's singer: in exchange for an apartment in Ahmed's building, Satohi agrees to take the blame for a traffic crime Ahmed committed with his car. The film mines its peculiar premise for laughs, exploring how ambition, love, and unlikely alliances play out against the backdrop of circus life.
