The King of Petrol, is a 1962 Egyptian movie, directed by Hasan El-Saifi, and starring Ismail Yasseen, Zahrat Al-Ola, Abdel Moneim Ibrahim. with a runtime of 94 minutes.
The King of Petrol (Malek Al-Betrol) is an Egyptian social comedy film following a veterinarian who leaves city life behind to settle in the Egyptian countryside and build his career there. He falls for the daughter of a wealthy village notable and the father agrees to the engagement — but with one peculiar condition: the doctor must hand over a plot of land he owns, because the father is convinced the ground beneath it is rich with oil. This outlandish belief sets off a chain of comic situations that satirize the obsession with quick wealth, land greed, and the ways that rural social dynamics can be upended by little more than rumor and wishful thinking.
