With People is an Egyptian social drama that pits a landlord's economic ambitions against the lives of those who call his building home. Engineer Al-Farmawy, the owner of an aging tenement in a working-class neighborhood, wants to demolish the crumbling structure and replace it with a new building that will generate real income. The tenants refuse to budge, so he enlists his son Kamal to pursue legal action. The plan hits an emotional wall when it emerges that Kamal is romantically involved with Ezza, one of the residents — forcing him to choose between family obligation and the woman he loves.
