Gouz Meraty is an Egyptian comedy built on the Islamic legal concept of al-muhallil — the practice where a divorced man can only remarry his wife after she has been wed to and divorced from another. When the impulsive Ahmed rashly divorces his wife Laila for the third time and immediately wants her back, he reluctantly enlists Ustaz Hassan to enter a one-day temporary marriage with her. Hassan's brother inadvertently extends the arrangement for several days, during which Laila discovers in Hassan a kindness and dignity she has never experienced before. A warmly comic film that uses a farcical premise to explore what women truly want in a partner.
