Overview

Criminal Record is an Egyptian comedy-drama following Garib, a rural man who arrives in Cairo after selling his land, only to be swindled out of his money by a con artist posing as a business partner. His attempts to rebuild his life spiral into a darkly comic nightmare: a visit to obtain an ID card ends with six months in prison for assaulting a government employee, a forged document sends him back behind bars, and with each fresh attempt to set things right, disaster strikes again. A biting satire of bureaucratic absurdity and the cruel randomness of fate.
