Overview

Uncle Qandil's Scissors is an Egyptian social drama revolving around Qandil, a beloved neighborhood barber whose shop is a refuge and whose word carries weight among his community. When a tragic accident leads to his imprisonment, the real character of those around him is revealed — most painfully through his son Salah, who wastes no time converting the cherished barbershop into a clothing store. The film is a meditation on legacy, integrity, and the ease with which greed can erase what a good person spent a lifetime building.
