Awdat Al-Hayah (Return of Life) is an Egyptian social drama following Tahiya, a devoted mother who builds a modest but happy life with her husband Hussein, a low-ranking government employee, and their two children Amin and Semsema. When Tahiya pushes Hussein to find a better income, he is seduced into the drug trade — a decision that costs him years in prison. Left alone, Tahiya moves to a rough neighborhood and eventually loses her sanity under the weight of hardship. The film traces the divergent fates of the family: Amin grows into a man of integrity while Semsema finds her path with a musical troupe, painting a layered portrait of a family torn apart by poverty and desperation.
