El Khouroug Min El Guana is an Egyptian romantic drama film about the painful gap between potential and the choices that squander it. Mukhtar is a gifted musician who fritters away his talent in the company of reckless friends. When he falls in love with and marries the journalist Annan, she dedicates herself to pulling him away from his aimless lifestyle so he can finally commit to his art. But her efforts breed resentment rather than growth, and the couple's differing visions of what their life should be ultimately tear them apart. Mukhtar repents after their divorce and fights to win Annan back — only to find she has moved on and remarried. The film is a bittersweet study of what happens when change comes too late.
