Al-Jasoos is an Egyptian espionage thriller starring Farid Shawqi as a sharp naval intelligence officer tasked with dismantling a spy ring operating in service of Israel. The network is masterminded by Adel Adham, a former naval expert who conceals his operations behind an antiques shop in Cairo's historic Khan Al-Khalili bazaar. His co-conspirator, singer Ann Smyrner, works Cairo's nightclubs recruiting young servicemen to extract military secrets. As the net tightens around the spies, the film builds to a taut cat-and-mouse confrontation between the intelligence services and an enemy operating deep in the heart of the city. A classic of Egyptian spy cinema.
