The Coma is an Egyptian social drama following Sherif, who returns from years abroad to find himself drawn into a circle of unemployed, directionless young people battling drug addiction. The group includes a girl whose father in Kuwait sends money without oversight, a young man who has lost his sanity to drugs, and the son of a police general living through a broken marriage. As Sherif becomes entangled in their world, the series exposes how unemployment, neglect, and despair push young people toward addiction and extremism. A frank, unflinching drama about the social failures that fuel personal destruction in contemporary Egyptian society.
