Al-Aqmar, is a 1978 Egyptian movie, directed by Hisham abo alnasr, and starring Nadia Lotfi, Nour El-Sherif, Saeed Saleh. with a runtime of 90 minutes.
Al-Aqmar is an Egyptian drama film set in the labyrinthine streets around the historic Al-Aqmar Mosque in central Cairo. The film weaves together the stories of marginalized residents caught in webs of exploitation and moral compromise: a virtuous vegetable seller, a corrupt taxi driver, his drug-dealing addict friend, a sex worker married to a policeman, and a wealthy hypocrite who performs Friday prayers while secretly plotting to demolish the very mosque he prays at. Through these interlocking lives, Al-Aqmar delivers a raw and unflinching portrait of urban poverty, social hypocrisy, and the hidden fault lines running beneath Cairo's ancient streets.
