Overview
Al-Usta Al-Modeer is an Egyptian comedy drama following Hussein, a senior civil servant struggling under the weight of financial hardship that leaves him unable to provide for his family. When a wealthy family seeks to wed their son Medhat to his daughter Mervat, Hussein finds himself in a deepening predicament. Desperate for a solution, he secretly takes up work as a house painter — a comic fish-out-of-water predicament that generates a cascade of mishaps as this white-collar man navigates the world of manual labour. The film balances warm humour with a heartfelt look at middle-class pride and the lengths a father will go to for his family's dignity.
