Overview

شجرة العائلة (Family Tree) is an Egyptian social comedy that traces a budding romance between Elham, the daughter of a humble schoolteacher named Madbouly who lives in a working-class neighborhood, and Farid, a young man from a wealthy family. The class divide between them threatens to derail their relationship entirely, prompting Elham to ask her father to learn the finer points of upper-class etiquette so he can make a better impression. Enter Zaher, tasked with the unlikely mission of transforming Madbouly, leading to a string of comic situations that gently satirize Egyptian social hierarchies.
