Overview
Bitter Grapes is an Egyptian drama following Hashem and Tawfiq, two thieves on the run from police who take refuge in a remote village. Hashem falls into work for Rashed, a powerful feudal landowner, and soon finds himself in romantic rivalry with Rashed's son for the affections of Nadia, a local girl. The stakes rise sharply when Rashed begins digging into Hashem's shadowy past. The film blends social drama with thriller elements, examining class, desire, and the danger of secrets in an environment where the wrong man's curiosity can prove fatal.
