48 Hours in Israel is an Egyptian spy thriller that opens with the Israeli raids on Suez in 1956, which claim the lives of Amal's father and husband. She raises her younger brother Nasr alone, watching him grow up to join Egyptian intelligence. When Nasr disappears in Greece after being kidnapped during a mission to secure a critical microfilm, Amal travels to find him herself. Her search draws both Egyptian intelligence and the Israeli Mossad into a tense surveillance operation, each side intent on obtaining the microfilm that Nasr managed to hide before vanishing. The film offers a gripping portrait of a woman caught between personal devotion and the machinery of Cold War espionage.
