Bahr Al Awham is an Egyptian social drama film set in the shadowy underworld of prostitution and drug trafficking. Samia finds herself trapped in the grip of Nawaem, a woman who runs a brothel and narcotics operation, with no clear path to freedom. In the most unexpected of circumstances, a genuine love develops between Samia and the pimp Maher, and together they hatch a plan to escape and leave their sordid world behind. But fate intervenes to separate them, preventing Maher from following Samia and leaving the story suspended between hope and despair. The film is a raw and unflinching portrait of lives shaped and crushed by a world that offers no easy exits.
