Overview
Searching for a Scandal is an Egyptian romantic comedy about Magdi, a young man who leaves his hometown in Upper Egypt to take up a new job in the city. There he befriends Sami, a worldly companion well-versed in the art of courtship. When Magdi spots Hanan by chance at a social club and instantly falls for her, he turns to Sami for advice on how to win her over. Sami obliges with a series of colorful stories drawn from the romantic escapades of their mutual friends Fikri, Aziz, and Abd al-Azim — each tale more farcical than the last. The film is a lighthearted portrait of social aspiration, romantic blundering, and the comedic wisdom exchanged between friends navigating Egypt's urban dating scene.
