Egyptian actor. Muhammad Wafiq Ali was born in Alexandria to a father who worked as a university professor. He completed his secondary studies at Al-Marqisiya Secondary School in Alexandria, then obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Theater Arts with distinction in 1967 in a class that included (Nour Al-Sharif), (Magdy Wahba), (Shaker Abdel Latif), and (Abdel Aziz Makhyoun). During his first year of study at the institute, he went to work in the television theater as a form of training and to increase income, as he had just come from Alexandria. The novel (No Borders) was about Palestine, written by (Mahmoud Shaaban) and directed by (Fawzi Darwish). Then he participated in the play (Sinbad) directed by (Ahmed Zaki) and was greatly encouraged by (Mahmoud Amin Al-Alam). He saw the play (Youssef Shaheen) and was assigned to star in a film directed by him, but the project was not completed. The big move in his career was through the series (Writing on Burning Flesh), in which he presented the character (Al-Zahir Baybars). Then the big move was through the series (Al-Murshidi Antar), and at the same time he presented a series for Qatar TV called (Ahmed Pasha Al-Jazzar). Then his participation in the movie (The Message) was directed by (Mustafa Al-Akkad), in which he presented the character (Amr Ibn Al-Aas). In the eighties, over the course of three parts directed by (Yahya Al-Alami), he presented his most famous character, which is the character of (Aziz Al-Jabali), the intelligence officer who works in secret to make the life of the Egyptian spy (Raafat Al-Hagan) easier in his dangerous life inside Israel, and the person who (Raafat Al-Hagan) said that he felt his presence and the extent of his interest in him without seeing him or knowing him. Despite the diversity of his roles, this role remains the most famous in the career of (Mohamed Wafik). In the 1980s, he also played his best cinematic role in the movie (The Escape), directed by the great director (Atef El-Tayeb), in the role of the cold, pragmatic police officer (Fouad El-Sharnoubi), who had just returned from America carrying new security methods. The number of films that Wafiq presented to cinema remains limited compared to his contribution to the field of television. He presented about 22 films, including: (And the Third is Satan) by (Kamal Al-Sheikh), (The Story of Half a Million Dollars) and (The Case of Samiha Badran). On television, he played, in addition to the above, praised roles in the series (The Crescent Biography) as (Al-Zanati Khalifa), (Hercules) in (Muhammad, the Messenger of Humanity), (Ascension to the Summit) as (Muhammad bin Abi Amer), who founded the Amerid state in Andalusia, (the approved caliph) in (Imam al-Tabari), (Tariq bin Ziyad) in (The Court of the Martyrs), and (Napoleon Bonaparte) in (Heroes). And (Khedive Ismail) in (Al-Halawani Gate) and the devil in (The Hour of Ould Al-Huda). He married his cousin, the artist (Kawthar Al-Assal), in the late 1980s, and their marriage, which he described as a happy marriage, continued until her death in late 2013 at the age of 64. Following open heart surgery at Dar Al Fouad Hospital in Cairo, he died on March 14, 2015, at the age of 67.
