Overview

Dahsha is a 2014 Egyptian drama series adapted from Shakespeare's King Lear, set during Ramadan in the rural Upper Egyptian village of Dahsha. Legendary actor Yahya El Fakharany stars as Al-Basel Hamad Al-Basha, a wealthy patriarch who decides to divide his fortune among his three daughters while still alive, fearing his half-brothers will claim the inheritance after he received a windfall from a lifelong friend. When each daughter secures her share, they turn cold and ungrateful, leaving their father to confront the bitter consequences of his decision. Written by Abdel Rahim Kamal and directed by Shady El Fakharany, the series features a stellar ensemble cast including Nabil El-Halafawi, Yasser El-Masry, Yasser Galal, Fathy Abdelwahab, Yosra El-Lozy, Hanan Motawea, and Aida Abdelaziz.
