Overview
Behind the Sun (Waraa Al-Shams) is an Egyptian drama film set in the raw aftermath of the 1967 military defeat. Following the killing of her father and the arrest of her brother, Suhair is recruited as a security informant, tasked with infiltrating university campuses to monitor revolutionary youth and report on dissident professors opposed to the ruling system. As time passes and her reports mount, Suhair is increasingly consumed by shame and a gnawing sense of moral degradation. A psychologically charged drama that explores conscience, coercion, and the personal cost of complicity in a nation reeling from catastrophic defeat.
