He graduated from the Higher Institute of Cinema in 1964 and was appointed to television the following year, 1965, and continued to work there until he retired in 2000 with the rank of Undersecretary of the Ministry of Information. He participated in establishing several cinematic unions, such as the “New Cinema Group - the Union of Recording Filmmakers - the Union of Arab Recording Artists - the Union of Artists.” He was also prominently active in most conferences and events related to discussing the conditions of Egyptian cinema. He served as agent of the Cinema Professions Syndicate, during the period from 1999 to 2004. Then he participated in the jury committees of a number of film festivals.
