Cinema's Tough Guy is an Egyptian comedy film starring Tamer Wahid as an action movie star who rebels against the violent roles his directors and distributors keep casting him in, determined instead to make socially realistic cinema. To prepare, he asks the head of security to assign him a capable police officer to shadow — and gets Khaled, a rigid, no-nonsense cop whose sternness extends even to his wife, who happens to be a devoted admirer of Tamer's work. When Khaled successfully gathers evidence against a gang of thieves, the criminals use their influence to have him dismissed from the force and then hound him in his personal life. The film builds to a warm resolution that restores harmony in Khaled's marriage and cements an unlikely friendship between the cop and the star.
