The Bogeyman is a comedic play following Mahrous, a young man whose only obstacle to marriage is the lack of an apartment. When he stumbles upon a janitor named Thabet who offers him a flat at an unbelievably low rent, Mahrous is tempted beyond reason — even after hearing rumors that the apartment is haunted by demons. Once he signs the contract and pays the brokerage fee, there is no turning back. The play blends slapstick comedy with supernatural elements, using Mahrous's predicament to poke fun at the very real pressures young Egyptians face when trying to start a family, turning a mundane housing crisis into a lively paranormal farce.
