Rudd Qardy (Refund My Loan) is an Egyptian social comedy theatrical play that follows a young man from a humble family who has spent his life working as a security guard — first for a belly dancer named Habiba, then at the American Embassy — to save up a dowry so he can marry Basant, the younger sister of prominent businessman Shawkat. Trusting his father with his savings proves to be a costly mistake when his stingy father refuses to return the money. Forced to borrow from a bank managed by Shawkat's associate Tawfiq, he unknowingly signs documents for a larger sum than agreed. Unable to repay the inflated debt, the young man faces the devastating consequence of having his infant son taken from him — a sharp social commentary on exploitation, trust, and justice.
