Melody of Joy is an Egyptian classic drama-romance film built around the clash between tyranny and tender feeling. Galal Pasha rules his family with an iron fist, forcing his only heir — his nephew Ehsan — to flee rather than endure another day under his thumb. In his self-imposed exile, Ehsan falls for a kind-hearted schoolteacher named Hanan, finding in her warmth everything his uncle's household never offered. But Galal refuses to let go, dispatching his secretary Ass'ad to track Ehsan down and drag him back.
