My Mother's Fiancé is a light Arabic comedy built on a classic case of mistaken identity. Mona confides in her friend Mushira that she had a relationship with a young man who abandoned her, and hands her one of the emotional letters she wrote him. When the letter accidentally falls into the hands of Farhat and Tal'at, the two men mistakenly believe it belongs to Mushira and — fearing she may harm herself — spring into action to help her. Their well-meaning but misguided efforts set off a chain of comedic misunderstandings, escalating entanglements, and laugh-out-loud situations.
