Overview

The Knife is a 1971 Syrian-Palestinian co-production adapted from the novella All That's Left to You by Palestinian revolutionary writer Ghassan Kanafani. The film uses allegorical storytelling to explore the profound Palestinian attachment to land and family, and the grief that follows their violent dispossession. More literary meditation than conventional narrative, it translates Kanafani's spare and charged prose into visual form, making it an essential document of Palestinian cinema and a powerful statement on exile, identity, and loss.
