The Dupes is a landmark Palestinian Arab drama directed by Tewfik Saleh, adapted from Ghassan Kanafani's searing novella Men in the Sun. Three Palestinian refugees — each carrying his own wound and his own desperate dream — hide inside a truck's empty water tank attempting to cross the border into Kuwait, the land they have come to see as salvation. Based on Ghassan Kanafani's 1963 novel, Men in the Sun, the film portrays the lives of three Palestinian refugees after the 1948 Palestinian expulsion and flight by following three generations of men who made their way from Palestine to Iraq in the hope of reaching Kuwait to pursue their dreams of freedom and prosperity.
