Tayee is an Egyptian drama thriller following a young Upper Egyptian doctor, fresh from medical school, who holds unconventional views on the tribal code of vendetta deeply embedded in southern Egyptian culture. Circumstances draw him into a dangerous antiquities-smuggling operation — complicating matters further is the fact that his closest friend is a police officer. The film explores the tension between personal conviction and social inheritance, as Tayee is pulled between the values he was raised with and a criminal world he never meant to enter. A character-driven story set against the backdrop of Egypt's rural south.
