Al-Sakakeni is an Egyptian social drama set in one of Cairo's working-class neighborhoods. Azab, a selfless civil servant, postpones his own marriage and dreams to finance his brother Samir's medical education. When Samir becomes romantically entangled with Basboussa, a woman caught in addiction and working under the madam Shoushou, Azab borrows money to fund her rehabilitation. The crisis deepens when Basboussa steals a payroll sum entrusted to Azab, and the police accuse him of the theft. The film is a gripping portrait of loyalty, sacrifice, and how the mistakes of those we love can unravel the lives of the innocent.
