The Name Caller is an Egyptian social drama series following Hamed, a man from Upper Egypt who moves to Cairo to work as a doorman in an apartment building. He sends for his wife Fathia to join him, and she gradually adapts to urban life, learning to read and write under the guidance of Ihsan, a cultured neighbor. As Fathia's ambitions grow and she begins to envision a better future for herself, a complication arises when Alaa, another building resident, begins pursuing her romantic attention. The series examines migration, female aspiration, and the quiet strains that distance and change can place on a marriage.
