The General Inspector, is a 1956 Egyptian movie, directed by Helmy Rafla, and starring Ismail Yasseen, Tahiya Cariocca, Mahmoud El Meligy. with a runtime of 115 minutes.
Al-Mufattish Al-Aam is an Egyptian comedy film loosely inspired by the spirit of Gogol's classic satire, transplanted into an Egyptian village setting. A corrupt mayor — married to a dancer and accustomed to exploiting his peasant neighbours for personal gain — panics when word reaches him that a government inspector is on his way to investigate. When two strangers arrive in the village at the same time, the mayor mistakenly identifies one of them as the feared inspector and launches an increasingly desperate campaign of flattery and bribery. Al-Mufattish Al-Aam Arabic comedy film is a sharp, timeless satire of corruption, vanity, and small-town power.
