The Night Is Ours is an Egyptian romantic drama film following Nawal, a singer in a traveling entertainment troupe who falls for the respectable Dr. Medhat and sets her heart on winning his admiration. Fearing that her profession would drive him away, she conceals her true identity and presents herself as a schoolteacher. When the truth eventually surfaces, however, rather than pushing Medhat away, it draws him closer, and the two marry. Their love is then put to its sternest test when a close friend of Nawal's is wrongly accused of murder, forcing the couple to navigate the treacherous intersection of loyalty, justice, and the social prejudices that never quite disappear. The film is a warm and emotionally layered portrait of love tested by circumstance.
