Nelly Mazloum

An Egyptian actress, choreographer, and performance dancer of Greek origins. She was born in Alexandria in 1925. She began dancing on stage since she was five years old, and excelled in her field until she became one of the pioneers in contemporary dance, and founded a ballet school. She participated in a number of films during the 1940s and 1950s, and her most prominent character was Latanya in the movie (Ibn Hamido). Nelly Mazloum left Egypt in the mid-sixties after the difficulties she faced regarding her band, and has since settled in Greece and founded a dance school there. She died in 2003.
