Overview

Stray Light is an Arabic social drama that digs into the roots of class conflict in rural Egypt, pitting two families against each other in a contest for power and prestige. The Al-Azayzeh clan represents old feudal money — landowners whose political dominance has gone unchallenged for generations. The Al-Sawalim were once their hired hands, but newly acquired wealth has made them ambitious rivals. When a seat in the People's Assembly becomes the ultimate prize, the Al-Sawalim resort to illegal means to finance their campaign, threatening to upend a social order that has defined the region for decades.
