Al-Doctor Farhat is a lighthearted Egyptian comedy built on a classic case of mistaken identity. When a hotel owner sends his employee to find a translator, he returns with Farhat, a naive villager wholly unprepared for city life. Resident guest Dr. Helmy seizes the opportunity, persuading Farhat to impersonate him and travel to Alexandria to test the affections of Nouna, his prospective fiancée. What follows is a warm, farcical adventure as the fish-out-of-water Farhat improvises his way through the role of a distinguished physician — with predictably chaotic and charming results.
