He was born on July 20, 1946. He lived from his childhood in Shubra until he obtained high school. Then he joined the Faculty of Arts, Department of Philosophical and Social Studies, Alexandria University, where he graduated in 1966. He was appointed to the position of a social worker in the Prison Service in April 1967. Lyman Abi Zaabal wrote the first evening play in the black and white period, which was shown in 1974 under the title Point of View, and then his television works continued, after which he moved on. To the world of film writing due to his love for cinema since his childhood, and the first film he wrote was (The Moon) directed by Hisham Abu Al-Nasr, and then his cinematic works continued after that, at a time when he also obtained a postgraduate diploma in criticism, from the Higher Institute of Art Criticism in 1975.
