The Malatily Bathhouse is a bold Egyptian drama adapted from a novel by Ismail Walieddin. The film follows Ahmad, played by Mohamed El Arabi, a young refugee from a town near Ismailia who arrives in Cairo seeking work and a law degree. Given shelter at the historic Malatily Bathhouse in the Gamaliya district, he is drawn into the turbulent lives of its inhabitants — among them Naeema, a prostitute portrayed by Shams El Baroudi, with whom he falls into a complex and emotionally charged relationship, and Raouf, played by Youssef Shaaban. As Ahmad navigates guilt, desire, and moral compromise in an unforgiving urban environment, the film builds to a shattering portrait of displacement and survival on Cairo's margins.
