The World in 2000 is an Arabic science fiction comedy following a young man who cannot afford the dowry demanded by his sweetheart's wealthy father, losing her to a richer rival. In desperation, he turns to his scientist brother, who uses a mysterious ray to shrink him to the size of a fingertip. Now miniaturized and invisible to the naked eye, he infiltrates the newlywed household and proceeds to torment his beloved's husband. The film uses its fantastical premise to deliver sharp social commentary on class, wealth, and the absurdities of marriage traditions.
