Rafik El Saban

A Syrian writer, critic, and screenwriter who has lived in Egypt since the early seventies. He began his career through the Syrian theater, where he directed a number of theatrical works there. He then moved to Egypt and wrote the film “The Dawn Visitor” in 1972, beginning his long film career that spanned about 25 films, the most famous of which were “The Enemy Brothers,” “Cat on Fire,” and “A Hot Night,” the last of which was “Women Seeking Freedom” with director Enas El-Deghaidy. He worked as a professor of screenplay at the Cinema Institute in Egypt, and was also famous for his important critical writings, as he is considered one of the most important critics in the Arab world.
