Omar Khorsheid

An Egyptian musician, guitarist, and actor. He was born in Cairo in 1945. He is the son of the cinematographer (Ahmed Khorshid). He holds a Bachelor of Arts, Philosophy Department, and joined a Greek music institute when he was seventeen years old. He then formed a band that worked for ten days in Luxor and then nightclubs in Cairo. Then he formed the Mega Tours band, abandoning it to join the band (La Petit Shah), which was his real starting point. Abdel Halim Hafez saw him at a band concert to ask him to join the Diamond Band. He was the first to introduce the guitar to the oriental bands, and then he collaborated with many singers, most notably (Umm Kulthum, Fayza Ahmed). He began his cinematic career with a role in the film (My Dear Daughter), directed by Helmy Rafla, 1971. He then participated in many works, including (The Oracle, Tears on the Wedding Night, Passion and the Body), and among the most prominent works for which he participated in setting the soundtrack. (The bullet is still in my pocket, where is my mind?) In May 1981, he was involved in a horrific car accident that claimed his life. He was accompanied in the car by the artist Madiha Kamel and his Lebanese wife Dina, but they survived the accident.
