Rose Of The Desert, is a 1989 Algerian movie, directed by Mohamed Rachid Benhadj, and starring Boubakeur Belaroussi, Dalila Helilou, Athmane Ariouet. with a runtime of 90 minutes.
Rose of the Desert (Louss, Warda Al-Rimal) is an Algerian drama film set in a remote oasis deep in the Sahara, more than 700 kilometers from Algiers, where life still follows centuries-old rhythms and a single daily bus is the only link to the outside world. Moussa, born without arms, lives there with his sister Zineb as they quietly attempt to rebuild a family unit shattered by war. Despite his disability, Moussa is fiercely independent, finding joy in drawing and nurturing a secret love for a woman named Mériem. Zineb, reluctant to face the changes marriage would bring, commutes daily to a date-packaging factory. The film unfolds at a gentle, contemplative pace, using the image of a rose Moussa tends daily in the sand as a metaphor for stubborn, silent hope.
