30 Days in Prison is an Egyptian comedy film that follows Amshir, a loyal bodyguard who works for the wealthy cabaret owner Medhat Al-Shamshiri. When a court sentences Medhat to a month behind bars after he burned the mustache of a powerful Upper Egyptian man named Al-Najawi, Medhat persuades Amshir to serve the sentence in his place in exchange for money. While Amshir endures prison life for his employer, Medhat's true character begins to unravel on the outside: his secret involvement with Azhar, the daughter of Al-Najawi, comes to light and is exposed to his unsuspecting fiancée Sohair. A fast-moving comic farce that uses the world of Cairo nightlife to skewer the duplicity and self-serving schemes of those who always find a way to buy their way out of trouble.
